As early as the 1990's, Ferrari may have been contemplating an eco-friendly model.

Professional automotive designer and aerospace engineer Princely Count Vitus Sebastian Barbaro was one of the stylists who presented a concept for the Ferrari Enzo to Amedeo Felisa at Ferrari SpA's headquarters in Marnello, Italy. Felisa, at the time, was director of product development, and now serves as the CEO of Ferrari SpA.

Barbaro is know for green-technology design and early ethanol-based concepts. Considering that Ferrari is typically 10 years ahead of the pack with innovation, a green Ferrari supercar may have been secretly in works for some time.
